The Wastecare project was a freelance collaboration with Serviceplan Munich, focusing on designing sustainable packaging for AIZOME's innovative skincare product derived from textile dyeing wastewater. The main challenge was leveraging industrial design skills for packaging, leading to a unique layered construction that provided an engaging unboxing experience. Using cardboard in a stacked, layered way gave the packaging a distinct aesthetic.

Collaboration was a crucial part of this process, involving art directors, graphic designers, and paper producers. As the only industrial designer, maintaining efficient communication was essential, developing a holistic and collaborative workflow.

The project included designing the bottle lid for the wastewater. The precious, polished metal lid juxtaposed within sustainable cardboard packaging added a sense of importance to the bottle.

Wastecare received multiple awards, including the Gold Cannes Lion for Sustainable Packaging. The packaging played a vital role in the overall design story. The project showed the importance of adapting the design process to suit different project factors, such as collaboration, materials used, and the overall intention. This agile, adaptable approach was crucial in achieving the desired outcome.
